Eron L. Coleman STEM Scholarship

We are honored to introduce the Eron L. Coleman STEM Scholarship, named in memory of Mr Eron Livingston Coleman, who served on the Boswell Family Charitable Foundation Board from 2020 until his passing in 2023. A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1997, Eron dedicated much of his life to a career in cybersecurity and had a deep passion for helping others.

This scholarship, created in his memory, is designed to ensure that through his legacy, young Alabamians will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy STEM fields just as he did. The scholarship will support students pursuing studies in Cybersecurity and Information Technology, with a focus on those enrolled in STEM programs within the Montgomery area. As with our other scholarships, the selection criteria will emphasize academic potential, community service, and demonstrated financial need. Additional details will be provided as the scholarship application period approaches.

Eligibility:
One high school student will be selected to receive $750 in scholarship money. To be eligible for the
Eron L. Coleman STEM Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

✓ Must be a current high school senior in the Montgomery, Alabama, area attending one of the
following schools:

✓ Minimum 2.70 cumulative GPA out of 4.0 scale
✓ Must be accepted into a college or trade school
✓ Must demonstrate STEM interest, whether class enrollment or nomination
✓ Must demonstrate commitment to community
✓ Must complete all scholarship requirements (detailed below) by the deadline

Timeline:
Application Opens: November 4, 2024
Applications and Nominations Due: 11:59 PM CDT on March 14, 2024
Scholarship Recipients Notified: May 9, 2024
Annual Scholarship Luncheon: Scheduled for June 2025 - Details will be provide at a later date.

Requirements
Step 1: Students check eligibility and determination if this scholarship is a good fit.

Step 2: No later than 11:59 PM on March 14, 2024, the student or counselor submit the criteria as listed below:

One Letter of Recommendation - Letters can be from the following:

Nominating high school teacher, guidance counselor, or someone other than a family member or friend who can vouch for your character.

Evidence of Application to a College or Trade School Acceptance. Note that scholarship recipients will be required to provide an acceptance letter once available.

High School Transcript (Cumulative GPA must be 2.70 or higher).

Resume - Should demonstrate individual involvement in the local community.
